Actually, this was the one moment in this episode where I was disappointed in Dean. Because yes, Sam and Dean have pushed through breaking points or brokenness many times in the past, but Cas isn’t them. This isn’t the same. I’m not mad at Dean for it, because I know Dean’s not good with this kinda stuff and he was doing his best with it. But Cas is still relatively new to all this emotional turmoil and stress and mental instability and complete and utter loss. He hasn’t had twenty-some years to learn how this works, he’s had… what, five? At the most? And, as close as Cas may come to being family, he’s not a Winchester. He doesn’t have that seemingly-genetic strength of will.
Okay I’m sorry I just tend to coddle Cas and I know it. Even if Dean’s still my favorite, Cas has become my baby this season.
Guys you have no idea how much I loved Cas this episode. My sweet little broken-headed angel…
Actually, I was proud of all of my the boys. Bobby, for recognizing what was happening and being able to accept the end. Sam and Dean, for being able to let go, and for accepting that Cas couldn’t/wouldn’t fight, and for finding another way for him to help, and not pushing him too hard. Cas, for standing up and helping them despite being so scared that he would break everything again, for doing what it took to protect Dean stop Dick once and for all despite his recent dislike for confrontation.
I just… I really love these four, okay? And I really really really need the next season to make sure that they’re all alright.
Except for the mention of Cas and appearing nude covered in bees that was disturbing in so many ways and I’m trying not to think of that in any way shape or form.
